COUCOU CHLOE

Imagine waking up one day and the ultra rich shamelessly used your track and pretended it was their own, you know your originality cannot be replicated. That’s what happened to Coucou Chloe aka Erika Jane. The London-based French artist brought her own sounds and aesthetics into this world, and we are just living in it. From warped animal samples and intensely deep diaristic lyrics over sneaky beats to harsh, futuristic sounds and club stompers, Coucou Chloe has created something so unique and original that we do not seem to be able to get enough of.

Her haunting, strung out and spacious compositions captivate the deep, dark and dangerous desires that are hard to resist. At her live shows, emotions run high and intensity takes over, something evident from thrashing mosh-pits that are almost always guaranteed to ensue. NTS quickly picked her up. Boiler Room had their hands on her, a show where she spent just a couple of nights learning how to DJ. And for those who still need another confirmation for her unquestionable talent, Prada and Gucci also joined the long list of admirers and had her DJ’d at their events. Even more so, she is one of the foundations of NUXXE, a forward-looking label that has Sega Bodega, Oklou and Shygirl as the rest of the collective featuring sensations like Brooke Candy and Charlie XCX.
But music is not the only thing that she’s naturally good at. Coucou Chloe also has a knack and interest in fashion. Her sharp facial features are a match made in heaven for fronting fashion campaigns, and fronting campaigns she did for Burberry and Vivienne Westwood as well as being on covers for Highsnobiety and i-D magazine. So, it is unsurprising that she is one of the most sought after artists, with festivals, venues and parties such as Sonar, Melts!, the notorious Herrensauna and Primavera Sound lining up for her availability. She is also releasing her highly anticipated new project FEVER DREAM this September, and we at DIAGE might just be lucky enough to see it performed live.
