KOICHI SHIMIZU

At DIAGE 2026, his sound expands beyond the speakers, brought to life through an audiovisual production that transforms the space into his world. Koichi explores resonance, texture, space, and the physicality of sound, creating music that can shape perception, imagery, and memory.

Based in Yamanashi, Japan, Koichi Shimizu is a sound artist and composer whose practice moves across music, film, installation, live performance. His collaborations include filmmaker Apichatpong Weerasethakul, for whom he designed sound for works including Fever Room and A Conversation with the Sun (VR).

For DIAGE 2026, Koichi returns with Continental Affair (DIAGE Deconstruction) — an ambitious reconstruction of Cyndi Seui’s original track, taking its original DNA into a new vision of Bangkok, where beauty and chaos exist side by side. Joined by the voice of Thanachai “Pod” Ujjin, the work becomes a collision of generations, disciplines, and different ways of hearing the city.
